This is a non-fiction book focused on the sixth installment of Scary Movie. It consists of an analysis from a philosophical and sociological perspective of this comedy made by the Wayans brothers. Although it is a parody comedy, the Wayans went further by making a film that questions the history of its own saga and becomes self-aware as a caricature to the point of self-criticism. The analysis is not only focused on the self-criticism of the film and its references to the trends of the 2020s. But also in its satire of the generational enmity, highlighting the sensitivities of Generation Z and the concrete attitude of the millennial generation. Themes like nostalgia and the phenomenon of requels serve as vehicles for understanding the generational divide and its relationship to the entertainment industry.
At first, this was written as a review like many others, but as I extended it quite a bit and finished writing everything, I realized I was writing a kind of essay. Using what I learned in college about philosophy, sociology, anthropology, and psychology (even though I've forgotten some of it), I began to be much more analytical and thoughtful when critiquing films, which greatly aided me in maintaining a neutral and constructive stance on film and television. That's something I applied when analyzing Scary Movie and reviewing each point after watching it in the theater. So I decided to turn this essay into my next book, and this is the first non-fiction book I have written. The book certainly includes the critique I made of the movie, and I did not detail all the scenes precisely to avoid as many spoilers as possible. So I maintained a level of ambiguity to avoid summarizing the entire plot and also not to specify exactly when or how the events being analyzed occur. This book is more for those who have already seen the movie and still have doubts about some situations. Este es un libro no ficticio enfocado en la sexta entrega de Scary Movie. Consiste en un análisis desde una perspectiva filosófica y sociológica de esta comedia realizada por los hermanos Wayans. Aunque se trata de una comedia del cine parodia, los Wayans fueron más lejos al hacer una película que cuestiona el historial de su saga y toma consciencia de sí misma como una caricatura al punto de autocriticarse. El análisis no solo va enfocado en la autocrítica de la película y sus referencias a las tendencias de la década de los 2020. Sino también en su sátira de la enemistad entre generaciones resaltando las sensibilidades de la generación Z y la actitud de concreto de la generación milenaria. Temas como la nostalgia y el fenómeno de las recuelas son un vehículo para entender el clivaje generacional y su relación con el mundo del entretenimiento.
Al principio esto fue escrito como una crítica como muchas otras, pero al extenderme bastante y al terminar de escribir todo me di cuenta de que estuve escribiendo una especie de ensayo. Eso es algo que aplique al momento de analizar Scary Movie e ir revisando cada punto tras verla en el cine. Lo interesante fue que se trató de algo más que una comedia y es que se trata de una película con interesantes mensajes que siguen el ejemplo de South Park y The Boys. Así que decidí convertir este ensayo en mi siguiente libro y este es el primer libro de no ficción que he escrito. Aunque es un análisis sobre la sátira de la película, escribí todo con una estructura simple como siempre hago y sin tener que ser complejo. El libro desde luego incluye la crítica que le hice a la película y no detallé de forma precisa todas las escenas para evitar el mayor número de spoilers posible.
